Development

Hammerson's approach to development is to take a long-term view, creating buildings designed to meet the changing needs of occupiers.

As one of the leading developers of large-scale projects in Europe, we are viewed as a partner of choice by local authorities and as a client of choice by construction firms. We have a valuable long-term development pipeline which comprises major retail regeneration schemes in cities such as Leeds, Sheffield and Southampton and office developments in and around the City of London.

Hammerson is currently progressing three major schemes: Les Terrasses du Port, Marseille; Bishops Place, London; and 54- 60 Rue du Faubourg St Honoré, Paris.

Enabling works began in August 2010 on Les Terrasses du Port, a 54,000 m2 retail scheme in Marseille, France's second city. The scheme offers 160 shops and 44% of the income is pre-let.

A few minutes walk from Liverpool Street station in the City of London, Bishops Place is a 100,000 m2 mixed use scheme including 65,000m2 of high quality offices and a 118 bed hotel. Vibrant public spaces will be lined with retail and cafés, bringing a largely vacant site into commercial use and opening up an area which is currently inaccessible to the public. The site has planning permissiona and pre-marketing for the offices has begun.

Construction work is underway on a refurbishment project to create an additional 1,000 m2 of retail space at 54-60 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. The seven new units, let to prestigious international retailers including Bally and Burberry, will open in the second half of 2011.
